An article published today on Houzz shows the 20 most popular kitchens on the site. While many of them are classic white kitchens, several show evidence of a growing trend: colored cabinets. As seen in design blogs and magazines over the past year, painted cabinets—especially blue, green and gray—are rapidly gaining popularity.
Consider this beautiful kitchen, the fifth most popular on Houzz (designed by Kitchen Studio: Kansas City).
The pale green lower cabinets (Sage, by Crystal Cabinet Works) are mixed with white countertops, copper lights and bold orange accents.
Coming in at number 8, this true-blue kitchen is a show-stopper (designed by Chad DeWitt).
The cabinets are painted Farrow & Ball’s Oval Room Blue, which is a nice contrast to the brass hardware.
Gray cabinets continue to be a popular alternative to white, as seen in kitchen #16 designed by Gwen Adair.
The cabinets are Storm Gray by Dura Supreme.
Last on the Houzz list (but still the 20th most popular on the entire site!) is this lovely kitchen designed by Rafe Churchill.
These cabinets are painted Green Blue by Farrow & Ball.
We staged a house last year with kitchen cabinets painted two tones of a very similar color.
