Susan Adamé

Susan Adamé lives in the East Bay and has a varied history of working in the arts and experimenting with new ideas. " Movement is at the conception of each piece as I often begin with large gestural strokes that are full of energy. In my finished work I strive to bring a sense of balance and harmony to a piece while it also partially reveals more dynamic elements. It is my intention that my art has a positive influence upon the viewer."

Yarra Day

Abstract expressionism, color, and landscape are Yarra's main influences. She creates paintings imbued with feeling. Through the lens of memory, time, and color, she seeks harmony in mark-making, hues, and texture. Sometimes this involves layering, and sometimes the paint is used sculpturally to reveal deeper layers. Other times, drawn lines serve as timelines or anchors to the landscape, appearing as horizons or transforming into a quilted terrain.

Beth Fine

My art traverses the figurative to the abstract; observing ordinary life that surrounds me. My practice encompasses printmaking, performance, sculpture, and installation. My artistic journey began with clay, photography and dance. Each of these disciplines still reside within my work. I embrace chance and choice as elemental, moving from conceptual to material, mixing reality and dreams to create a collage of my personal journey within the world that surrounds us. I focus on the shifting layers of experience, balancing between the deeply personal and the political. My art reflects my sense of the impermanence of existence, while seeking to locate myself within the chaos of our contemporary world.

Steve Gerstman

I have painted for many years. Throughout my career in the music business, I have found my creativity through visual art, mainly in oil painting on canvas. I've had shows in the Bay Area, participated in open studios, and have an online gallery.

My work has a feel of outsider art, art brut. Most of it is figurative but seldom literal. I love using vibrant colors. Sometimes it can look whimsical, sometimes not. I love the "aura" of original paintings, including brush strokes and palimpsest. I also make prints.

Bushra Gill

Bushra Gill finds order within the chaos of everyday life through art. Her work is about connection, especially an underlying structure that unites people to nature, time and space. Inspired by Islamic geometric patterns, she tessellates images from everyday life to create rich and complex surface structures with texture and color. In the process, images are simultaneously revealed and concealed, exploring the concept of things that are both present and veiled

Audrey Kral

My art serves as a catalyst to awaken the viewer's inner serenity, joy, and expansiveness. Guided by spontaneity and intuition, I allow unseen currents of creativity to shape each artwork. Every brushstroke is a dialogue between myself and the materials, a dance of color and light unfolding organically. My paintings offer windows into meditative realms, where serenity, peace, and vitality converge. Through atmospheric compositions, I evoke the formless qualities of existence, inviting viewers to explore their inner landscapes.

Carol Jacobsen

Throughout my painting career, color has been my main passion. Whether I’m doing abstract or more realistic paintings, I always use color to express the feelings I want to convey. As I work on an idea, I start by layering the various colors, then get into a meditative state which gives expression to the images and stories of the painting.

Her art was awarded the Best of Show by the International Society of Acrylic Painters in 2005 and featured in Artweek. Her artworks are held in corporate spaces and private collections in the United States and internationally. Her current series is called “Women of Color and Accomplishment”

Kristen A. Jensen

Kristen Jensen is a Bay Area native who has been painting since 1999. Her abstract and representational paintings are composed of organic textural elements superimposed with a conscious linear structure. Many of her abstract paintings include architectural elements that hearken back to her childhood fascination with the blue prints her father did in his architectural practice, and the seeds of her landscape series, “Sea Ranch,” were planted during a road trip in the 1960’s, when this coastal community was in its infancy, and sheep still roamed its meadows.

Connie Ryan

"I am drawn to paint the beauty in the natural world as well as the beauty in what is old, neglected and discarded. I usually start a painting with an image or a feeling, and if the painting goes in another direction, I follow it, giving the painting permission to be itself. I paint by making forms and then dissolving them, searching for structure that allows breathing space. My paintings are composed of many layers and journeys before finally arriving at a resting point. In my recent work I am using collage, acrylic paint and pencils.

Dobee Snowber

Dobee Snowber is a painter/mixed media artist living and working in Berkeley, CA. She is fascinated by the notion of entropy, especially regarding structures. Inherent in their creation is their de-construction. Within this process, a history evolves and becomes part of the structure itself. Over time they become worn and beaten and yet remain standing. Her pieces reflect the result of this process, both the distress and the beauty.
