Audrey Kral

Audrey paints how color sounds in her mind's eye, using the vibration of the colors to compose an atmospheric emotional impression. Her greatest inspiration comes from nature, introspection, and philosophical reflection. She draws upon experiences collected during travel in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific, as well as experiences in silent retreat, creating choreography, and listening to music. See her oil paintings and learn more about her process on her website.

Connie Ryan

"I am drawn to paint the beauty in the natural world as well as the beauty in what is old, neglected and discarded. I usually start a painting with an image or a feeling, and if the painting goes in another direction, I follow it, giving the painting permission to be itself. I paint by making forms and then dissolving them, searching for structure that allows breathing space. My paintings are composed of many layers and journeys before finally arriving at a resting point. In my recent work I am using collage, acrylic paint and pencils.

Yarra McClure

Yarra graduated from Humboldt State University in 2000 with a degree in Art and an emphasis in Art Studio. Abstract expressionism, color, and landscape area my main influences. She aims to create paintings that are imbued with feeling. When someone looks at her work, she wants them to feel the aliveness of the image through her use of color and the way that the paint dances on the canvas. Her process is fairly simple; after an initial paining is established she likes to draw into the painting and apply many layers of paint. What comes across is a story in paint; you see the process of the painting and the history of the layers of paint. She works in all painting mediums including watercolors, acrylic, encaustic, and oil paintings.

Susan Adamé

Susan Adamé lives in the East Bay and has a varied history of working in the arts and experimenting with new ideas. " Movement is at the conception of each piece as I often begin with large gestural strokes that are full of energy. In my finished work I strive to bring a sense of balance and harmony to a piece while it also partially reveals more dynamic elements. It is my intention that my art has a positive influence upon the viewer."

Kristen Jensen

Kristen Jensen is a Bay Area native who has been painting professionally since 1999, and currently works from her studio at Studios Eleven in Oakland, California. Her abstract and representational paintings are composed of organic textural elements superimposed with a conscious linear structure. Many of her abstract paintings include architectural elements that hearken back to her childhood fascination with the blue prints her father brought home from his architectural practice, and the seeds of her landscape series, “Sea Ranch,” were planted during a family road trip in the 1960’s, when the famed coastal community was in its infancy, and sheep still roamed its meadows.

Alix S. Mitgang

Alix Mitgang is a visual artist based in the SF Bay Area. She began in photography, pottery, and oil pastel and pen and ink drawings. Her current abstract work in acrylics has been called at once primitive, modern and futuristic. Layering random veils of color, she plays with texture and saturation, sometimes punctuating the canvas with geometric shapes or calligraphic forms, removing pigment to reveal patterns and images.
